Hill Country Art

Visitors to the quaint Texas town discover a thriving art scene with numerous studios and galleries as well as festivals and other art events. Hotel Flora and Fauna’s owners wanted to honor the community’s commitment to the arts. So, one of the most dramatic amenities is the art wall that separates the hotel’s courtyard from the parking area. The mural features dozens of native animals as well as their habitats. The art wall intrigues visitors and residents alike and has become a key element of Wimberley’s public art scene. The mural, painted by the very talented Tony Sansevero, depicts deer, raccoon, a bobcat, a roadrunner, turtles, fish and many more indigenous species as well as Blue Hole and Jacob’s Well.

Green hotel amenities

We worked hard to make sure our footprint on the earth is a light one. We encourage our guests to use their towels and linens more than one day – a practice that conserves precious water and energy resources. All of our cleaning supplies and bath amenities are phosphate-free, a choice that helps prevent contamination of our precious water resources. We are also working to reduce the amount of packaging that is sent to landfills by using refillable bath amenities instead of tiny disposable containers. If other hotels in the Texas Hill Country made the same choice, we could eliminate thousands of tons of plastic waste.

We have one of the only Wimberley hotels with a swimming pool and that pool was designed to have a low impact both in its size and its features. We chose a solar heated option and low energy LED lighting to decrease the pool’s impact.

Green is not a gimmick here. We went out of our way to preserve the dramatic oaks in both our parking lot and in our courtyard. These oaks are a key element of the Texas Hill Country ecosystem and also provide much-appreciated shade for our Wimberley hotel courtyard.
